avatar Thoughts of Ayumi Hamasaki & Upcoming Compilation Album

Prologue: This entry is a continuation of my other site Divine Ayu's recent post with some of my thoughts regarding News dated 07.27.08 there as I strive to keep Divine Ayu as formal & as accurate as possible and refrain from making it too personal/spreading rumours.

Above: All 43 released Ayumi Hamasaki singles
The first 8 single are 8-cm CDs so their covers are smaller.

Gladly mentioned by Ayumi Hamasaki herself at her TeamAyu blog (source), there shall be a new song coming up, presumably a new single after the release deluxe compilation album "A COMPLETE ~ALL SINGLES~ consisting of 3CDs+DVD+Photobook (on 10th Sept 2008). As a loyal fan of Ayumi, I am VERY much overwhelmed by the news probably because Ayu hasn't been releasing new songs or albums at a pace like back in her most glorious years, some time between 2001-2004, and she has been quite 'idle' since 2007 (this may be due to her focus on her first Asia Tour concerts).

I buy all her CDs and DVDs (Why still no Blu-ray disc from Ayu? It's 2008!) and all of her future release shall be NO exception. Her upcoming compilation album is definitely something that will bring back memories from the day I discovered her via random Jpop PVs as well as the constantly growing worshipping towards singer Ayumi Hamasaki since then. Never before revealed to anyone, she was a love-at-first-sight when I watched her "LOVE ~Destiny~" PV back in early February (or March) year 2000 and my second Ayumi PV was "Fly High".

With much memories coming back as I type now, I'm aware that Shin-Otaku.com wouldn't have probably existed now because I learned about HTML & Adobe Photoshop 5.5 back in 2001 in order to create Divine Ayu, initially known as Ayumillennium hosted by geocities.com. Yeah... it was during the 56k era and Divine Ayu was using "frame" navigation back then. Later, I self-thought PHP as I see potential use for Divine Ayu. Despite of the many changes made in 7 years, Divine Ayu is still an 800x*** resolution optimised website and I decided to keep it that way as it occasionally reminds me of how my Ayu craze started :) In short, Ayumi engaged me into the World Wide Web extensively and has changed me in many aspects of my life. I think I'll stop to bore you now but I may explain the 'changes' in future entry if you are interested :)

Back to main topic, for the first few seconds after I read CDJapan newsletter, I did think that this is "yet another $$$ ripping" strategy by Ayu's label AvexTrax but I later felt that I'm glad that this album will come out, whether or not it's a $$$ strategy. After thorough studying of the track listings of this album, I find that the DVD (of the 3CD+DVD version) alone is worthed all the money!

Just in case you do not have the time to visit Divine Ayu (or if you are too lazy to do so), I have copied the entire info (HTML to be exact) regarding "A COMPLETE ~ALL SINGLES~" album as below:

@Eloy
Welcome and thanks!
I now find that my coding skill is priceless thanks to Ayu. Oh, I forgot to say this above:
I am always a proud fan of Ayumi Hamasaki!

I'm a big Ayu fan, but singles collections are always a shameless money/PR grab. This is true whether it's Ayu, U2, Oasis, the Beatles, etc. It might make sense after a band's broken up, but never while the act is still "out and about." By the way, I became an Ayu fan when I first heard "Appears" while living in Singapore in October 1999. I've bought every album since.

@ Sean,
Same here, I'm an 'old' fan of Ayu and I strongly agree with you. Ayu shouldn't be doing so because she IS still "out and about". She should be releasing more singles at a faster pace like what she did back in year 2000 or 2001. Since she has built a big fanbase, I believe her future singles will make very good sales by doing so even though they might not be as nice as her top hits such as "evolution" or "M". It's just better than doing the Jacket A, B, C, or D variant for a single. But as a loyal fan, don't we buy whatever she releases?
