Queen's Gate is simply a spin-off of Queen's Blade which is a "visual game books" based on Lost Worlds. Details about "game books" and Lost Worlds gameplay mechanics can be read here. I could barely have a good grasp of the concept of "game books" without actually playing it but seems like they are pretty much similar to playing "physical RPG" or Japanese card games such as Yugioh where a player have 'drain' his/her opponent's HP (Hit Points) out in order to declare victory.

According to Wiki, "There is also a further series of books (referring to Lost Worlds), of emphatically female fighter-types, under the collective title of Queen's Blade, published from late 2005 by Hobby Japan. These books (currently 16), have however generally proved to be new (ecchi-ish) illustrations for existing combat matrices, rather than "new" characters (although at least one doujin has utilised what appears to be a "new matrix", and several of the latest Hobby Japan volumes are said to be original matrices). As of December 2007 a second series, Queen's Gate, was introduced (3 volumes so far), featuring characters from Japanese visual media."
