| Overseas Otaku Buying Tips
Making online purchases/pre-orders especially for Jpop CDs and anime/game PVC figures have always been the best option for me (and many otakus who do not live in Japan). Listed below are my wish list, preorders and purchases from these reputable online companies.

 • YesAsia (Bought my Jpop CD/DVD here)
 • J-list (many 'weird' Japanese stuff)
 • HobbySearch (Comprehensive inventory
but no free shipping and no shipping cost
provided upon placing an order )
 • HLJ (very good alternative to HobbySearch)
 • E2046 (many figures & rules in resin kit)
 • Play-Asia (My #1 online shop)

Melissa Seraphy 1/8 Figure

No figurine commemorates Halloween better than the newly acquired Waga Mama Capriccio Melissa Seraphy! You might be quite surprised that I could still buy this 1/8 scaled Melissa Seraphy PVC figure in spite of the fact she's labelled "Out of stock" almost everywhere. This entry shall not be doing a review on Melissa Seraphy but to walk you through my journey buying her.

Buying 1/8 Melissa Seraphy Online
Melissa Seraphy was initially released August 2006 and was then re-released March 2008 locally (release date may different depending on which country you reside). I missed both local shipments and was searching for her desperately, both online and offline recently. Of course, I did stumble upon one virtual shop which sells her at a ridiculous price, not to mentioned that it's a used unit here. Folks at both Play-Asia and Yesasia couldn't source her. No listings was on eBay too. Searching for her at some local forums for used unit returned zero result.

I was giving up on 1/8 Melissa Seraphy and decided to wait indefinitely for a re-release by GoodSmile Company but suddenly "Tokyohunter" came across my mind right after my successful eBay transaction with him for WF Nendoroid Melissa Seraphy Devil version last month. I skipped eBay and contacted Tokyohunter directly via email (email address could be found at his blog) hoping that he could hunt Melissa Seraphy down for me in Akihabara, Tokyo... and he did it! I have also gotten him to purchase 2 pcs of Nendoroid #28c Kagami Chara-Ani version (not shown here) and shipped everyhing out to Kuala Lumpur via EMS. The transaction were done outside eBay and payment was made via Paypal for your info. The sturdy parcel which contains the properly wrapped figure boxes in air-bubble bag arrived in perfect condition and was immediately unboxed upon arrival yesterday *Two thumbs up for Tokyohunter, Joseph Tsai*.

Why Melissa Seraphy now?
I have been wanting to get Melissa Seraphy ever since I bought ChuChu Astram and Chua Churam because they belong to eroge Chu x Chu Paradise ~Encore Live~. Melissa Seraphy is the main character of earlier UNiSONSHIFT product Waga Mama Capriccio and she later joined Chu x Chu Paradise ~Endore Live~ family as Maoh Melissa Seraphy (devil version). If you haven't been following my blog recently, you might want to know there's an upcoming figure Pixie Hiyori who is also a character from the eroge to be added to the family.

There are also two bloggers who got me further poisoned by Melissa's charm with their photoshoot and I'd like to point out who these "evil" people are -gordon @ Gordonator and ron~ @ Otadesho!- My antidote was totally ineffective.

As part of logging my purchase of Melissa Seraphy here, I am aware that there are other otakus who were mesmerized by Melissa Seraphy and were also hunting for her online. My blog tracker returns repetitive search engine query of "Buy Melissa Seraphy" and "Melissa Seraphy 1/8 PVC" and I thought I should at least let them know that Melissa Seraphy is still on sale in cement-mortar shops in Akihabara. You might want to get your trustworthy friend in Tokyo to get her for you otherwise contact proxy buyer Tokyohunter directly.

thanks bro for the mention. ^^;

i have been looking for her for a long time and has almost given up hope when a local famous blogger is selling his melissa off. great thing i place a bid for her early when he posted it else i think others will get definitely it.

btw i have heard of tokyo-hunter but doesn't he announce that he won't be hunting figures for customers anymore? does he charge a fee for his hunting service? and i bet u get melissa at a cheap price too right?

the last pic is nice. saved it. thanks. ^^;

@ Fariz Asuka,
Sure does, and she's kinda targeted for lolicon too :p
Ahh... somebody is into eroge, I mean for some very healthy reasons of course :)

@ gordon,
No prob, you're the only blogger who took outdoor photos of Melissa, which is special :) I still got mine boxed so no photoshoot. About getting Melissa, yeah, I was surprised that you were able to get her that time.

Tokyohunter did mention about his retirement as a proxy buyer so we should take this transaction as an exception, I think. He didn't mention about "hunting fee" but quoted me a lump sum for my purchases including EMS. I paid about 1.5x local retail price so it's kinda expensive if you make direct comparison. But I think it's worthed the price considering the provided EMS shipping and the fact that Melissa Seraphy is currently not in production. I just couldn't wait for a re-release even if there will be one.

@ Jus a loser,
You are very sharp. In fact, my first scaled figure was Makai Tenshi Djibril followed by Beat Angel Escalayer's Sayuka which was the the third (or fourth?) one. And just hours ago, I have Beat Blades Haruka came in. So basically I'm an eroge figure collector to begin with. Coming next up shall be Pixie Hiyori, Unity Yuno and Unity Mei LOL!!! Hmm... as for room design, I might just need something like a dakimakura or eroge towel to start with. Oh, I have sexy School Days calendar coming in just to let you know :)

ALTER, a very reputable figurine company must have done a BIG mistake approving this newly announced 1/7 Saber Lily figure. It seems that they are ignoring the release of Good Smile Company (GSC) 1/8 Saber Lily ~Distant Avalon~ completely. Today's very quick post features A/B comparison between the two figurines using stock photos...

Nendoroid Nagi has arrived for a while (fast 3-day transit via EMS from HobbySearch) but was unable to snap her until today. I sent my Canon EOS 450D kit lens for repair -AF and I.S. malfunction- and it took more than a month to complete for your information. Today's post features a rather short photoshoot session result of...

Kojima kept us puzzled for 2 weeks with his countdown site but the riddle has now been solved! "METAL GEAR SOLID RISING" has been unveiled by the creator Hideo Kojima himself! He sneaked up to Microsoft's E3 stage and announced that RISING will bring new METAL GEAR SOLID experience and will be available on Xbox 360. However...

*Who would expect the storm to stop before the countdown ends?* At Kojima's Teaser site, the storm is now over. While we are left with a few hours before the timer expires, Kojima's now presents only the number "8" or (letter "B"). All previous lettert/numbers (5 (S), @ (e), E, 3, P, R, C, 6 and 0 (O).) and portrait images of maybe...

As shown on previous Famitsu reports, we now have the expected appearance of presumed character RAIDEN breaking the storm at Kojima's teaser site countdown. Joystick reported that RAIDEN began to appear some time in the 90 hour mark. Additionally, we get letter "C" two more numbers flashing in the mix, "6" and "0" (or letter O)...

Who knows...
At times the prototype version and the retail version are completely different...at times
Who knows, Alter might improve what their figure will look like...

@ Leonia,
Both are great figures indeed, but imo GSC nailed it this time. Distant Avalon really looks perfect from every angle.

@ Saku,
For me it depends on the character's personality. As for Saber's facial expression, I don't think a dere dere face suits her at all, makes her look weak. So it's gotta be a serious face for her ^^

Yah I totally agree with you. They both look great but GSC version is slightly better and slightly more expensive. Some people may like Alter's expression while others may like GSC's expression but for me, I prefer GSC's expression since I like figures with serious expression

@ Jus a loser,
For Nagi's other faces, I just couldn't think of a really good pose that goes well together. Argh! What a waste!

@ Preston,
Agreed. Gamers, especially old gamers like us nowadays demand good graphics and overall presentation of a game, and reputation too. It's all about "quality over quantity".

As for Metal Gear Solid Rising, I think it wouldn't be wise for Hideo Kojima to ignore the Xbox 360 platform. Xbox might be doomed in Japan but still owns a big chunk of market share in the west. So yeah, $$$ > Pride.

Labour, creativity and production cost in gaming industry all skyrocket due to higher gaming quality demand from consumer.

Possibly sales from PS3 alone couldn't cope no more the production cost and desired profit level. Plus, it would be irresistible to say "NO" to Microsoft's "gulping" offer :p! Cross boarder is inevitable, moreover with current economic situation -> from "NO" to a big "YES" :).

Hideo Kojima won't do that to PS3 owners. No exclusivity was mentioned and he is expected to pop-up again tomorrow for Sony, I guess.

Not to mention MGS4 sells in japan is not consider good, so it is not a suprise to me that there aren't any Ps3 version. After all most of US people owns a X-Box360 rather than Ps3
