| | | The Perfect Grade EVA-01 Limited Coating Edition model kit purchased earlier has been actually completed months ago but didn't quite had the initiative to post these assembly photos until now, GOMEN! See more photos of this PG EVA-01 below. All these photos were taken on the same day I received the unit and the model was partially completed after a single non-stop 9-hour session of building the main body. Its weapons were later assembled on a different session. | | | Above: PG EVA-01: Body (back) | The PG EVA-01 comprises of completely different parts as compared to the smaller HG version (shown at the end of this post). Its internal chest which houses the lighting components as well as its abdominal parts had to be fitted in a special rubber suit before the external purple armors (they are actually known as "supressors") were attached. | | | Above: PG EVA-01: Body (front) | Fitting the rubber suit was the most time consuming part as I had to cut MANY small holes on it in order to expose the small joints for its armor later. Then I had to squeeze the whole internal skeleton into the rubber suit through a small opening without tearing it apart. It was the most difficult task in building this model but the outcome was worthed. All ugly gaps between the pieces on this unit are hidden under the rubber suit (brilliant idea by the maker Bandai indeed) and this is where PG EVA-01 stands out among all available EVA-01 figures, apart from its huge size. . | | | Above: PG EVA-01: Hand completed | The above photo was taken after some 7 hours of building. All that were left to do was completing EVA's legs and fitting them onto the upper body. | | | Above: PG EVA-01: Hand completed but I broke its left chest plate *dang!* | Shown below is the completed body of PG EVA-01 without the decals (yet). Hopefully I could do a full review of this premium figure soon. Otanoshimini! | | | Above: PG EVA-01 Assembly complete | | | | Above: PG EVA-01 and HG EVA-01 |

| | Read or post comment (8 Otaku comments) | jusuchin85 (Malaysia) Posted November 21st, 2009 1:21 pm (Sat) | Man, now I really want to get one. But I'm sure the articulation is almost as the real thing, no? The outer casing (purple one) looks more metallic than plasticky, so that's really a nice point. Can't wait for the decals to set in! | | Divine Fang (Kuala Lumpur, MY) Posted November 21st, 2009 11:34 pm (Sat) | @ jusuchin85, That's not true unfortunately. This Perfect Grade EVA-01 is hardly poseable despite having similar articulation to the High Grade (HG). I find the HG is slightly easier to pose due to its smaller size. That's main the reason of getting the Limited Coating Edition (^_^). If you get the normal edition, you'll need to do your own painting to get a "complete" model. | | Hirobot (Singapore) Posted November 24th, 2009 8:58 am (Tue) | Wow! It looks so wicked assembled! And I love the colour combination! | | Divine Fang (Kuala Lumpur, MY) Posted November 24th, 2009 11:50 pm (Tue) | @ Hirobot, Eva herself is a bit wicked ^^! Definitely looks great with the shimmering coating but I would actually like her armor to be apple green instead of dark mint green there :D | | phossil (Guatemala City) Posted December 6th, 2009 5:46 pm (Sun) | Wow, its very well done. How many months took to complete? | | Divine Fang (Kuala Lumpur, MY) Posted December 7th, 2009 2:07 am (Mon) | @ phossil, Thanks! Unlike some PG Gundam kits, this PG EVA version that I have doesn't really require additional painting. Therefore she can be completed within a day or two. Sticking the decals is the most time-consuming part though ^^ | | neverkn0wsbest (USA) Posted December 22nd, 2009 1:34 pm (Tue) | What type of decals are they... dry stickers or those infuriating water-mount? | | Divine Fang (Kuala Lumpur, MY) Posted December 23rd, 2009 11:06 am (Wed) | neverkn0wsbest, They are all water-mount decals with exception for just a few -antenna, chin, rear armor etc-. These decals do, of course take a lot of concentration to align and apply but they look the best on any model kit for their transparency, especially decals with wordings. | | | | | | |
